Re: Baby food making
Hi Jasz, are you also Dr denmark's recipe follower or tried out this recipe after read my blog? Anyway, glad to know that your baby likes the food and even till now I still do mush for my a year old girl. :)
Do share with me how is it going now and does your baby still like it? I am sure the happiest thing in this world is seeing your precious one finishes up what you prepared for her and feeding is no longer a battle right? ;)
Re: Baby food making
Hi Mummy!

I just started baby mush for my baby girl yesterday.

My recipes are

Brown Rice Cereal + Chicken Breast + Banana + Grapes + Spinach

and my bb finished the food within 10mins.

I also freeze up the mush and hopefully my bb will still want them.

Let's see how it goes!

Cheers!
Re: How am I doing recently after being a full time mum for 9 months?
Fiona, I am glad that you are sharing the same feel with me so I would not feel so awful for complaining as a homemaker. Is really true that you must get down then do it so you can understand how difficult or how much effort you need to put in to get the result, sometimes might not be the result you want. Btw, I will remember what you said 'the happiest people do not necessary have the best things' ! :) I feel blessed as I have a sweet friend like you.

Is 6th month now, being a mum-to-be is not an easy task as need to prepare mentally and physically. Reading parenthood books and magazines is a common homework so I am thinking to share what I had read/am reading.... ha ha, mum's talk!

What I had read/am reading

This is the first book I had finished (specially requested my parents to buy from Taiwan), because it provides straight to the point guidance on feeding and baby sleeping. It intoduces E.A.S.Y method, which stands for Eat, Activity, Sleep and Your time. Eat means feed your baby. Activity means allow her to play a while before nap time/bed time. Sleep means nap time/bed time. Your time means once baby slept then you can have your time to do your works/have a rest. It emphasizes on routine and is in a cycle but it does not focus on what time you should do what. This book also provides some surveys for you to find out what type of baby of yours so you will be able to understand more on her temper. This author is very experience in handling babies and even can understand baby's language by differentiating baby cries. Quite amazing. I like this book as it sheds light for first hand parents and I like this routine style of taking care of new born. Some might find it too strict for a new born, but like mentioned in the book, we should treat baby as an individual, not an attachment to parents. We should also respect the baby and interact more with a baby, you thought the baby will not understand? But nowadays all babies seem like super smart and getting mature earlier and earlier, don't you think so?

Another book which I am finishing is this one borrowed by Tracy. Is a very detailed guidance book on feeding and sleeping too. It introduces CLB method which can be said 90% similar to the above book. But it provides very precise schedule to follow and even how much volume for each time of breastfeeding express. Basically the theory behind is the same, to set a routine for baby so you can expect what to happen next. I like the detailed time table, ha ha. Because if you tell me roughly then I will scratch my head and think roughly is how much or how many times, so I guess it is very important for a new mummy like me to have solid reference especially first 3 months.

This one also brought back from Taiwan by parents. Very colourful and high quality on book printing. But I guess I will treat it more like a 'recipe' book as not much wordings and more like manual.

This one I read half way but is rather dry. More on children coaching but I prefer stories-liked writing style instead of using too much of experts' quotations so makes it feels like more on theories but not practical.

There are a lot of parenthood magazines available in market but I found this SGD5 Young Parents is very worthwhile. Tracy borrowed 2 these magazines to me and I like the info inside very much thus cw bought me this latest issue. I read page by page without missed a single info. Ha ha.

What Chloe is reading

Even though Chloe is still in my tummy but I had started to read her some rhymes and fairy tales. However I prefer to borrow from library so I can have more choices and as you know those books are mostly with few pages so can finish up very fast. It will be too wasteful to invest now so I prefer to borrow then in future can teach Chloe to read and borrow books from library too. Is a good habit!

Over the past weekend, cw and I started to convert our study room to Chloe's room. Haiz..I have to give up my big desk and now using cw's desk and he moves his to master room. Just a little corner. Anyway no choice, but luckily our master room is big enough but Chloe's room now is very packed as we still need to keep one desk and book shelves. Only can convert it fully once I have found better solution for our books and barang-barang. But I guess Chloe will not mind for the time being as we will still provide her space for her cot and changing station. However, one most headache problem we are facing now is the glaring sunlight issue in the room. As there is a condo right next to our block so during late afternoon time, the white condo is under great sunshine and it has the mirror effect which glares to my side. >< So now I am carrying out a project to solve this problem, but how? Ha ha, tell you all once is done. ^^

Re: Week 24 (6th month) ~ Sharings..

haha, since you are so 'eng' and read a lot of books, can you help me to find out more about 'Post Natal Binder', see got any mummy experienced to use if after delivery? Because based on my last experience, I felt my tummy very heavy after delivery, so I am thinking this product is useful? Lazy and no time to search more information on internet :p

Re: Week 24 (6th month) ~ Sharings..

hey..you can keep the Young Parents magazines :)

Saw that you are borrowing children's books from the library. Just wanna let you know about mike's nephew hospitalization saga, which may be helpful to you :)

His nephew caught some nasty bacteria and was warded for a week. After several rounds of tests, the doctor was unable to find out what is the bacteria. Later, muitin asked me if mike's nephew has contact with library books, then we realised...oh shit! he did touched the library books..and you know lah..babies like to stick their fingers into their mouth...and their immune system is low...

He's been tested for the usual bacteria that babies will get from home or from child care..all negative...so we are quite certain that he could have caught those nasty bacteria from the library books coz there's no way for the doctors to test for those bacteria on library books that could have been sneezed at/thrown on the floor/touched by sick babies.....

so..rule of thumb is...anything that is publicly used - gotta disinfect first or dun let young babies touch :)

Tracy, really thanks for the info. We never thought of that. Then I must be very cautious in handling those library books. Hope the baby is fully recover now!

Ethan is a big boy now, wah, time flies. I still remember his baby look from your blog last time then now already 16 mths. Yup, is very very xin-tong to see those little babies suffer, I experienced it while my niece warded last time too. Wish all kids grow up healthily and happily! ^^
